The Role

This Associate position sits within the Advisory group of a global firm, joining an experienced investment banking team with a track record across some of the largest and most complex transactions of the past two decades. The team covers a diverse range of industries including technology, media and telecommunications, natural resources, power and utilities, industrials, healthcare, and real estate.

The Associate will be a core member of the expanding DACH Coverage team, with direct involvement in both deal execution and business development. Given the lean structure of the deal teams, the role offers significant exposure to senior practitioners and spans multiple sectors. Flexibility to work across sectors and geographies beyond a primary area of focus is expected.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, structure, and recommend financial and strategic alternatives, including mergers, acquisitions, strategic combinations, asset sales, and divestitures.
  • Lead day-to-day transaction execution, including due diligence, valuation analysis, and contract negotiation.
  • Coordinate analyst materials and work closely with senior management throughout deal processes.
  • Analyse financial data and monitor developments in financial markets relevant to the business.
  • Conduct industry research for investment purposes across targeted sectors.
  • Perform valuation analysis of prospective investment opportunities, including assessment of financial risks.
  • Benchmark company financial data against industry peers by size, sector, and geography to forecast industry trends.
  • Design and develop quantitative models to assess the economic performance of target companies.
  • Prepare written analyses and evaluations of investment opportunities for internal management and client review.
  • Participate in internal and external client meetings, due diligence sessions, and contract negotiations.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior team members.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor\'s degree required.
  • Minimum three years of directly comparable investment banking experience, with a particular focus on M&A.
  • Strong background in finance and accounting.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in German is required.
