What to Expect - Off-Cycle Intern (Wells Fargo, Frankfurt, Germany)

Overview

This finance firm is seeking an Off-Cycle Intern to join its Frankfurt office within the Corporate and Investment Banking division. The role provides comprehensive exposure to two key coverage groups: the Corporate Banking Group (CBG) and the Financial Institutions Group (FIG). You will work as a full team member alongside junior and senior bankers, contributing to strategic planning and addressing financial needs for Europe\'s largest financial and corporate entities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing client pitch materials, presentations, and transaction documentation
  • Conduct financial analysis including review of financial statements, precedent transactions, and sector-specific metrics
  • Support preparation of credit submissions, annual reviews, and internal memoranda
  • Perform industry and company research to support origination and coverage activities
  • Monitor client performance, covenants, and risk metrics
  • Assist with transaction execution including loans, revolving credit facilities, and ancillary products
  • Support M&A, equity, and debt capital markets execution processes
  • Work closely with product partners across Debt Capital Markets, M&A, and Sales & Trading
  • Collaborate with subsidiary coverage teams supporting clients\' US operations

Skills & Experience

  • Currently pursuing Bachelor\'s or Master\'s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related quantitative field
  • Prior experience in corporate banking, investment banking, commercial banking, consulting, or accounting
  • Fluency in English and German required; additional European language desirable
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to articulate ideas clearly
  • Ability to work effectively across all organizational levels with flexibility and adaptability
  • Capability to execute in fast-paced, high-demand environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Familiarity with financial statements and key financial ratios
  • Genuine interest in credit markets, corporate lending, and European financial landscape
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Previous experience with FactSet, Bloomberg, or S&P Capital IQ preferred
