Overview

This role sits within the nature-based carbon markets practice of a global consulting firm, contributing to a team of consultants who deliver in-depth analysis on strategic and operational topics across national and international projects. The position focuses on the technical assessment of nature-based carbon projects — including afforestation, reforestation and restoration (ARR), improved forest management (IFM), and soil carbon methodologies — serving investors, buyers, and project developers.

The global consulting firm operates across the energy, bioindustry, infrastructure, industrial, and future mobility sectors, with more than 650 consultants across 43 offices in 26 countries on 5 continents. From day one, you will be embedded in a project team, working on complex, varied assignments alongside skilled colleagues across borders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply technical expertise in ARR, IFM, and soil carbon methodologies to critically assess carbon projects on behalf of investors and buyers.
  • Identify risks, gaps, and value opportunities within nature-based carbon projects.
  • Work with project developers to review and improve project assumptions and design.
  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis on complex carbon market topics.
  • Produce high-quality presentations and reports that communicate findings clearly and logically.
  • Present results and recommendations to national and international clients in meetings and workshops.
  • Collaborate effectively within project teams, across offices, and internationally.

Skills & Experience

  • A strong academic degree in Forestry, Agriculture, or Natural Resource Management; early-career professionals from other disciplines with a genuine interest in voluntary carbon markets, carbon credit lifecycle, and carbon integrity principles are also encouraged to apply.
  • Some initial experience in forest inventory design and/or soil carbon sampling — for example through internships — is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to tackle complex problems and draw structured, data-driven conclusions.
  • High attention to detail and proficiency in MS Office; skills in R and/or Python are a plus.
  • Proficient written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly to a range of audiences.
  • A business-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and deliver against budgets and deadlines in a client-facing environment.
  • Enthusiasm for constantly evolving challenges and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Immediate involvement in live project teams from the first day, working on stimulating assignments with major organisations in the energy and forestry sectors.
  • A structured development framework built on learning on the job, supported by consulting training programmes, an experienced mentor, and a dedicated buddy.
  • Flat hierarchies that encourage ownership, responsibility, and personal growth.
  • Competitive, performance-oriented compensation and corporate benefits.
  • Highly flexible working conditions designed to support a balance between professional and personal life.
  • A respectful, collaborative, and trust-based culture with colleagues from diverse backgrounds across a genuinely global network.

Application Process

Applications should be submitted in English and must include a CV, your most recent academic transcripts, and a motivation letter. All three documents are required for your application to be considered.
