Overview

This role sits within the Credit Risk department of an investment bank with a long-established presence in Luxembourg and operations spanning Switzerland and China. The department functions as the second line of defense within a three-lines-of-defense risk governance model, setting the rules, policies, and guidelines that govern the first line — the client-facing teams. The third line, internal audit, ensures both lines remain aligned with regulatory requirements and the bank\'s risk appetite.

In this position, you will analyze credit requests and conduct annual reviews for Corporate and Institutional clients, working within the bank\'s established policies, procedures, and regulatory framework. You will collaborate closely with Front Office teams to support the structuring of credit files and contribute directly to sound credit decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify risks related to counterparties and transactions, and formalize a structured credit opinion to support decision-making by the relevant credit authorities.
  • Carry out internal credit ratings using strong knowledge of economics and finance.
  • Analyze profit and loss statements, balance sheets, current and projected cash flows, and business plans.
  • Challenge assumptions presented by company management or Front Office teams where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Front Officers to support the structuring and preparation of credit files.
  • Ensure strict application of credit risk procedures and guidelines at all times.
  • Conduct annual reviews of existing Corporate and Institutional client exposures.

Skills & Experience

  • Master\'s degree in Corporate Finance or Management — a minimum of the first year of a master\'s programme must be completed.
  • Fluency in both French and English is required; knowledge of German is an advantage.
  • Solid command of standard working tools including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to produce clear, well-structured written assessments.
  • Rigorous approach to work with close attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with financial statements and a sound grounding in corporate finance principles.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • The investment bank offers a broad range of projects and multiple career development paths, with active support in identifying the direction that best fits your skills and ambitions.
  • Personal development is treated as a priority, with encouragement to gain experience across different business areas.
  • The bank holds a firm commitment to diversity and inclusion, viewing it as a driver of collective performance and maintaining equal opportunities for all employees.
  • As a signatory of the UN Principles of Responsible Banking, the institution is committed to responsible and sustainable practices.

Application Process

Candidates selected for this role will be required to provide an extract from their criminal record (no. 3) as evidence of integrity, in line with the specific requirements of the position.
