The Director – Origination sits within the Corporate & Investment Banking Group of an investment bank, with responsibility for driving new business development, structuring complex transactions, and deepening client relationships across sectors. The role demands a commercially sharp professional who combines origination expertise with strategic advisory capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of relationship managers and origination specialists.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across multiple sectors and industries.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
- Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify trends and potential investment opportunities.
- Structure and execute complex transactions, including M&A, debt and equity financing, and restructuring mandates.
- Collaborate with internal credit, legal, and marketing teams to ensure smooth transaction execution.
- Monitor regulatory developments and industry changes to maintain compliance and competitive positioning.
- Provide strategic financial advice and tailored solutions to clients, drawing on deep product and market knowledge.
- Develop and implement origination strategies to strengthen the investment bank\'s market presence.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination across internal teams and external partners.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor\'s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field is required.
- MBA, CA, or CFA qualification is preferred; CFA is considered a strong advantage.
- 7–10 years of experience in front-line relationship management, origination, or structuring roles within commercial or investment banking.
- Demonstrated track record of originating and structuring complex transactions, ideally in a multi-bank environment.
- Strong working knowledge of credit, legal frameworks, and financial products and services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build and sustain long-term client relationships.
- Sound awareness of regional capital market trends and dynamics.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently under pressure.
- Results-oriented mindset with a clear drive to meet and exceed business targets.
