Overview

A global consulting firm is seeking a Junior Threat Analyst to join its threat analysis function, contributing to the production of industry-leading terrorism research and threat intelligence. The role supports internal teams, member organisations, and relevant external stakeholders by delivering timely, well-evidenced analysis of the terrorism threat to the UK mainland and relevant international developments.

The analyst will work as part of a team of threat analysts and risk consultants of varying seniority, all overseen by the Chief Strategy and Operations Officer. This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week at the firm\'s Central London offices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain a detailed and current understanding of the UK terrorism threat landscape, including relevant international trends and developments.
  • Conduct ongoing research into terrorism-related incidents and news to inform key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the research, writing, and production of publications, reports, and threat awareness products covering the UK terrorism threat landscape and international trends, including the gathering and analysis of Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT).
  • Support the maintenance of a global terrorism-related incidents database.
  • Apply the Professional Head of Intelligence Assessment\'s (PHIA) Probability Yardstick to produce assessments of terrorism threat and activity, primarily in the UK and also globally.
  • Deliver briefings on terrorism threat to internal colleagues and member organisations as required.
  • Support external research into specific UK terrorism threat issues in collaboration with practitioner experts and government partners.
  • Contribute to the development of the team as a recognised centre of excellence for understanding UK terrorism threat, acting as an ambassador in all internal and external settings.

Skills & Experience

Essential Experience

  • A minimum of six to twelve months of relevant experience in a discipline related to terrorism and/or intelligence analysis, such as intelligence analysis, investigations, or monitoring.
  • A completed undergraduate or master\'s degree in a relevant discipline, such as International Security, Criminology, International Relations, Intelligence Analysis, Political Violence, or Conflict Studies.
  • Demonstrable understanding of terrorism and extremism in the UK and globally.
  • Experience working with Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT), including collecting, reviewing, and analysing large volumes of information to produce written reports, essays, or papers.
  • Experience presenting or delivering briefings to a small audience.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience applying the PHIA Probability Yardstick.
  • Background or demonstrable interest in mathematics, economics, statistics, or working with quantitative information.
  • Familiarity with the UK insurance market, specifically in relation to reinsurance.

  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and well-structured reports and analytical products.
  • Proven research and analytical skills, with the ability to independently gather and assess intelligence from multiple open sources.
  • Confident presentation skills, with the ability to brief credibly on terrorism-related subjects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Growth mindset with a positive approach to challenging tasks and a commitment to continuous learning and development.
