Overview

A real estate company is seeking a Real Estate Investment Analyst to join its London-based investment team, with a dedicated focus on the Living sector across the UK and Europe. This is a full-time role sitting within the Real Estate Investments team.

The successful candidate will support the full investment lifecycle — from sourcing and underwriting through to execution and asset management — across a range of residential strategies including Build-to-Rent (BTR), Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA), Co-Living, Single-Family Rental (SFR), Senior Living, and other residential sub-sectors.

This role suits an analytically strong candidate with one to four years of relevant experience who is looking to develop a career in institutional real estate investing, with direct exposure to high-profile transactions and portfolio management activity.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Analysis & Underwriting

  • Build and maintain detailed financial models for acquisitions, developments, joint ventures, and asset management initiatives.
  • Perform cash flow analysis, valuation modelling, sensitivity analysis, and scenario testing.
  • Evaluate investment opportunities across Living sub-sectors.
  • Analyse market fundamentals including rental growth, supply-demand dynamics, demographic trends, and competitive positioning.
  • Support the preparation of investment committee materials and recommendations.

Transaction Execution

  • Assist in the due diligence process, coordinating with legal, tax, technical, and commercial advisors.
  • Review financial, operational, and property-level information during acquisitions.
  • Support negotiation of transaction documentation and financing arrangements.
  • Coordinate data rooms and transaction workflows.

Market Research

  • Monitor UK and European Living sector trends.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and benchmarking exercises.
  • Track investment activity, capital markets developments, and emerging opportunities.
  • Produce investment memoranda and market reports for internal stakeholders.

Asset Management Support

  • Assist with portfolio monitoring and performance reporting.
  • Analyse operating performance against business plans and budgets.
  • Support refinancing, recapitalisation, and disposal processes.
  • Work closely with operating partners and asset managers to identify value creation opportunities.

Skills & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor\'s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A Master\'s degree or professional qualification (CFA, ACA, CAIA, RICS) is advantageous but not required.

Experience

  • One to four years of relevant experience in one or more of the following: Real Estate Private Equity, Property Investment, Real Estate Investment Banking, Corporate Finance, Valuation Advisory, Real Estate Development, or Investment Management.
  • Backgrounds from Real Estate Investment Banking Analyst programmes, Big Four Real Estate Advisory teams, Real Estate Valuation teams, or Corporate Finance and Transaction Services teams are well suited to this role.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and financial modelling capabilities.
  • Strong understanding of property valuation methodologies including DCF, comparable transactions, and yield-based approaches.
  • Knowledge of real estate debt structures and capital markets.
  • Experience analysing development appraisals and operating assets.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint and investment presentation preparation.

Preferred Sector Knowledge

  • Experience or familiarity with one or more of the following is beneficial: Build-to-Rent, Purpose-Built Student Accommodation, Co-Living, Single-Family Rental, Affordable Housing, Senior Living, or Residential Development.
