The Role
This is a senior position within the Compliance, Financial Crime and Conduct Risk (CFCR) team at SC Ventures (SCV), reporting to the Chief Compliance Officer, SC Ventures. The role leads CFCR activities for SCV and covers a wide range of areas including retail banking, corporate banking, strategic investment, data strategy, and digital assets. The position is based in DIFC, Dubai, with a stated expectation of regular physical attendance at Abu Dhabi offices. The role carries BAU responsibilities for CFCR activities, corporate actions, transaction due diligence, and advisory for SCV in the UAE and Africa.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive CFCR considerations across all SCV activities, covering retail banking, corporate banking, strategic investment, data strategy, and digital assets.
- Support awareness and adoption of an appropriate governance model across SCV activities, taking into account senior management responsibilities, entity structuring, and expansion planning.
- Support the adoption of CFCR frameworks suited to ventures, covering financial crime compliance, regulatory compliance, conduct, data quality, data privacy, and records management.
- Support venture building by applying approaches appropriate to each venture's business strategy, geographic coverage, regulatory context, and CFCR risk profile.
- Support ongoing engagement between SCV and Group CFCR to ensure SCV deploys an appropriate CFCR governance model, framework, and ongoing risk assessments.
- Implement the CFCR Function of the Future and the eight CFCR products.
- Develop and apply a methodology tailored to geographic and regulatory context to help ventures determine the appropriate CFCR risk management framework, covering risk identification, assessment, monitoring, training, and product and business advice.
- Drive implementation of the decision-making process for new ventures as set by the SCV CCO.
- Recommend appropriate policies and standards for approval by the SCV Committee, with clear operationalisation for ventures to address CFCR risks.
- Provide governance and oversight over the implementation of CFCR-related policies and procedures in ventures.
- Lead by example to build appropriate CFCR culture and values within the SCV CFCR team.
- Collaborate on and deploy the appropriate governance model to manage CFCR risk, covering shareholder representation, board membership, delegation of authority, and senior manager responsibilities.
- Collaborate on entity structuring and expansion planning for SCV, including setting up new legal structures, regulatory engagement, and local CFCR engagement.
- Deploy the appropriate framework to manage risks from unconventional third-party relationships including business partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances.
- Execute transaction due diligence for approval by the SCV CCO and work with stakeholders to identify and resolve due diligence matters.
- Identify and assess CFCR risk sources and ensure systems and controls are appropriate to mitigate and manage risks within acceptable tolerance levels.
- Report on material CFCR risks.
- Collaborate on preparation and cascade of audit plans and findings, CFCR assurance activities, and investigations to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure lessons learned from audit findings and assurance activities are prepared and cascaded to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide timely escalation and oversight information to the SCV CCO on key CFCR risks and control issues.
- Attend relevant meetings and represent CFCR in business forums, including as a CCO delegate where required.
- Provide relevant reporting and review of management information.
- Propose control effectiveness and efficiency improvements for SCV where appropriate.
- Engage with assurance and regulatory reviews in SCV, including tracking, remediation, and preparing lessons learned.
- Support and maintain an appropriate risk-based CFCR framework for identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, mitigating, and reporting compliance and financial crime risks across SCV.
